Alaa Hegazy: Building a strong team is the key for Mawten Construction and Development’s success and expansion into foreign markets
Alaa Hegazy, the founder and CEO of Mawten Construction and Development, said that building a strong and integrated team is one of the most important factors in the success of contracting companies and their ability to grow, expand, and enter new markets, noting that the experience and competence capable of managing projects and dealing with implementation challenges represent the true capital of any company.
He added “I believe that the team is the true capital of any company, and it is the foundation upon which we build our success and expansion, no matter what resources are available, it is difficult to achieve our ambitions and goals without a strong team that possesses experience, competence, and a sense of responsibility”.
He pointed that the nature of the contracting sector requires an integrated system of specializations and departments, starting from planning and engineering studies, through implementation, resource, cost management, ending with follow-up and delivery, assuring that clear responsibilities and coordination among team members directly reflect on the quality of projects and the efficiency of implementation.
He emphasized that this vision was reflected in the company’s business volume, which successfully managed to execute more than 100 projects in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, as this success is based on experience exceeds 28 years in both the Egyptian and Saudi markets, which has contributed to build wide experience in managing and executing projects according to the highest standards of quality and commitment.
He explained “This is why we have succeeded in executing more than 100 projects in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and this number is not merely a count of projects for us, but a direct result of years of work and building a team capable of assuming responsibility and managing and executing projects to the level we target”.
He noted that the diversity of projects and markets requires flexibility in management and the ability to deal with the different nature of each project and the needs of each market, besides the experience gained in the Egyptian market has contributed to qualify the company for international expansion, especially in the Saudi market.
Hegazy assured that rising execution costs, fluctuating building material prices, and currency exchange rate changes represent ongoing challenges for contracting companies, given their direct and indirect impact on raw materials, equipment, and project inputs.
He emphasized “Construction is mainly a challenging industry, but the biggest challenge lies in maintaining quality of execution and commitment to the client despite all the market fluctuations”.
He noted that overcoming these challenges requires flexible financial and operational management, proactive planning, and meticulous cost monitoring, assuring that economic pressures should not be an excuse to compromise on quality.
He added “Quality is not something we can compromise on to cope with rising costs, on the contrary, the more difficult the circumstances, the greater the need for more efficient management and more precise planning”.
He assured that expanding into the Saudi market is part of a well-considered growth strategy, noting that entering any new market requires a team capable of transferring the company’s expertise, culture, and execution standards.
He assured that true external expansion begins internally, by building a strong team capable of carrying the responsibility of this new phase.
He pointed that the ambitions of Mawten Construction and Development Company, goes beyond implementing projects to build a sustainable entity that maintains its reputation and the trust of its clients, as the project will end, but the company’s name and reputation will remain, and therefore every project they implement must represent an addition to the name of Mawten Construction and Development Company.
